Brook trout are not technically trout but are part of the char family of fish.
From the artist, Dale Weiler: After sculpting this trout as a stone bar relief ( which now resides in the permanent collection at Brookgreen Gardens) I decided that it would look equally as impressive in bronze. During the creative process, I loved experimenting with patinas to see how much more life I could breathe into it.
Brook trout often hide in the shadows of a stream for safety. Hence, the title.
