NOT TOO MANY FOLKS KNOW ABOUT THESE ENORMOUS AQUATIC SALAMANDERS.
Not too many folks know about these enormous aquatic salamanders. That’s because they are very reclusive creatures. They can grow to over two feet in length and only live in extremely clean freshwater streams and rivers in the eastern US. Unfortunately, their numbers are decreasing due to deterioration in water quality from habitat destruction and chemical pollution.
I sculpted Hellbenders Rock to give people the chance to see what one actually looks like. The color in the stone is a perfect match for the real deal. You can see this in person at the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro, NC at their Streamside Exhibit.
Sculpture Description:
Species: Hellbender
Material: Colorado Alabaster
Dimensions: 20”w by 20”d by12”h
Market value: $25,000.00
We donated this sculpture to the NC Zoo for their native fish/hellbender exhibit. And the really cool part is they redid their entire exhibit around Hellbenders Rock to be more interactive with visitors, especially children.
