Education Coordinator
The Education Coordinator will lead Wild for Art programs and engage in outreach efforts to inspire kids about wildlife conservation through art. This hybrid position involves teaching in-class programs, attending events, and working remotely. Classes and events are primarily in Polk County, with occasional opportunities in Henderson County. Ideal candidates are self-starters who enjoy balancing in-person teaching with remote creative development.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver Engaging Educational Programs:
- Conduct Wild for Art classes across various settings, including after-school programs, in-class sessions, summer programs, library sessions, and homeschool groups.
- Cultivate a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters curiosity, exploration, and creative expression among participants.
- Coordinate and communicate with volunteers to be sure all programs have adequate resources.
- Write blogs, newspaper articles, and social media posts on educational programs and the animals taught in our programs.
- Collaborate on Curriculum Development:
- Work closely with the Education Manager to create educational resources, lesson plans, and curriculum materials that align with state standards.
- Develop wildlife art activities for kids and families for an online portal in development.
- Contribute innovative ideas to enhance learning experiences and engage students in wildlife conservation.
- Community Outreach:
- Support and participate in community outreach activities, including events, social media posts, and other activities as needed.
- Engage with local communities to increase awareness of Champions for Wildlife programs and initiatives.
- Represent Champions for Wildlife at community events and meetings to promote our mission and build relationships with partners, donors, and volunteers.
- Data Management:
- Maintain accurate program participation records, evaluations, and other pertinent data to assess effectiveness and inform future planning.
- Assist in analyzing data to evaluate the impact of programs and outreach efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current residency in Polk or Henderson County.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, environmental science, or a related field.
- At least two years of teaching experience, ideally with K-8 students in environmental education.
- Knowledge of the North Carolina Standard Course of Study, particularly in Science and Environmental Education.
- Valid driver’s license and access to transportation.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for events and outreach activities.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace (Gmail, Sheets, Docs, Drive).
