This is one of the most beautiful pieces of yule marble I’ve ever carved.
From the artist, Dale Weiler: There’s a dustiness to the stone that is quite unusual. Once I looked deeper into the marble, I saw a giant kingfisher just below the surface, resulting in this unique kingfisher art.
Kingfishers are most well known for their ability to hunt and eat fish. Because of how still they are while hunting, I named this kingfisher art, Still as Stone.
This giant kingfisher lives in Africa and mates for life. Both parents take care of their offspring until they fledge.
