The magic of a whale sculpture. The orca whale is another misunderstood animal on our radar. It’s in fact, not a whale but in the oceanic dolphin family. The orca or “killer” whale, is the largest apex predator in the world and can be found in every ocean on earth.

Its size, intelligence and use of echolocation to locate prey make it a formidable hunter of fish, smaller dolphins, seals, and even small whales. The IUCN has not yet been able to classify its conservation status due to insufficient data, but the orca has been placed on the US Endangered Species List.

This whale sculpture called The Breach was a commission from a fellow orca lover. I wanted to depict this beauty as it breached the ocean surface in one of its classic aerial maneuvers. What a sight to behold!
