THE MAJESTIC RED FOX

From the artist, Dale Weiler: Back in the summer of 1968 I encountered a red fox perched atop a tree stump up on the Mogollon Rim outside Flagstaff, Arizona. It was just sitting there with one paw lifted and it’s snout tipped upward. It appeared to be trying to sniff out the whereabouts of its next meal. Since I was downwind, it never got my scent and I was able to view it for quite a while.

That treasured memory had stayed with me for almost forty years, when I brought it back to life in this bronze in 2005. This majestic red fox appears exactly as I remember it, hence the name “Catching the Scent”.
