LOTI AND I LOVE ALL PRIMATES, BUT THE GORILLA TOUCHES OUR SOULS THE DEEPEST.

Loti and I love all primates, but the gorilla touches our souls the deepest. They appear to understand and connect with you when making eye contact. It’s both comforting and a bit unsettling how we seem to relate to one another.

I created Enigma, a western lowland gorilla, in memory of a grand matriarch that passed away at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo. When looking at Enigma, you can almost feel her contemplating something. What that something is uncertain.

We want Enigma to be placed where viewers will be able share gazes with her and make their own personal connections. Let us know if you have a great place in mind at [email protected].
