THE STONE TOLD ME THERE WERE RED WOLVES INSIDE

The inspiration for the original stone sculpture of “Just Settling In” was an encounter we had with critically endangered red wolves at the NC Zoo in 2018. We met 3 newborn pups and it was love at first sight. Prior to our introduction, we had no idea they even existed, let alone the only ones remaining in the wild were in our home state.

After learning more about them and the challenges they faced I knew I had to create a piece to educate the public about their tenuous condition. The decision to debut the sculpture at Arkansas State University was an easy one for us. Not only is ASU dedicated to bringing the red wolf wild population back, but they’ve chosen the red wolf as their school mascot. How cool is that!
